This tie is a nice flat black. Not shiny. Which is what I needed. However, it's very very long. This would fit a tall person perfectly and would look nice. On someone that is 5'9" or less it just didn't work. It's a great quality tie and you really couldn't beat the price so it was definitely worth the money just to try it out. This is not a zipper type of tie, fyi. Nice tie, just too long for me.
My husband tried tying this tie and could not do it because the material was way too thick to be tied. When he did tie it the tie was then too short and the knot was huge! Not the best design overall.
I really liked this tie. I was surprised by the quality due to the price. The style suited the outfit that I wanted it for. The fabric is durable, nice and this. It’s a tie that makes a statement but doesn’t dominate the outfit.
I wear a tie to church every Sunday. I am a big fan of more modern ties with a slimmer profile (2-2.5" width) and made from materials like cotton, linen, wool. This tie seemed like it fit the profile of exactly what I like. My first impression was the presentation. It arrived in a cheap plastic blag. Second impression was how thick and stiff the cotton was. When I tried to tie it, it almost felt like I was trying to tie a tie made from denim. It made for a comically large knot. I tried different variations of knots but could not get it to look normal. All my knots were a bit loose because it was hard to tighten with how stiff the cotton is. I knocked off two stars because of the inability to tie it. I would have returned it based off this alone.I took off another star because of the price point at $20. You can get ties that are made of similar materials that are of much better quality for this price and even half this price.Definitely a casual tie. Not ideal for formal occasions.
Otis & Oliver's Skinny Necktie is a well-constructed, stylish 100% cotton tie.The fabric has a textured, subtle linen-like weave and, with its lining, is somewhat thicker than others. It would not work well with bulky knots, but is perfect for simple one-over ones. When I think about it, large knots such as a double Windsor would seem to be disproportionate for a thinner tie anyway. As the manufacturer states in their description, "... we recommend [using] the single knot or four-in-one hand knot for those lucky tall guys". Following this advise will produce pleasant results.I'm glad to have this slimmer style to update my wardrobe. The overall look of ties slightly changes over time both in terms of width and silhouette and, to stay current, replacing ties every several years is a wise way to stay current. This tie is very versatile and will serve me well in most, if not all, occasions. I'm quite pleased to have it. Recommended.
